Commercial Product Manager 
Based in Crick (Junction 18 of the M1) 
Plumbing and Heating Division 
40 hours per week

Our Plumbing and Heating division of Travis Perkins group are currently recruiting for a Product Manager - Own Brands Bathrooms to join our friendly yet hard working Commercial team.  Our strategy focuses on nurturing what already makes us great, while building plans to differentiate our customer offer and continuing to develop expertise, range and delivering a great service to make it easier for customers to do business with us. We are looking for an ambitious Product Manager to influence and implement the Product Strategy for our own brands that will drive competitive advantage and produce long term profitable growth and deliver against sales and margin targets.

You will:

  • Acquire an in depth knowledge of the customer and the market relevant to the brand by ensuring the customer within the business and ensure they are at the heart of all decision making.
  • Develop and build range plans that include exit strategies and NPD that fulfil market driven trends, based on customer insight , trends analysis and fulfilling business unit specific requirements as appropriate.
  • Develop a clear sourcing strategy for your product categories to ensure the supply of quality products that meet the customer need and builds high performing business partnerships with key suppliers to maximise opportunities.
  • Within your product categories deliver agreed AOP performance in terms of financial measures (Sales, Margin, Profit and Marketing spend) and customer measures. Monitor trading performance and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Deliver margin improvements through trading terms negotiation, group synergy projects and common and direct sourcing programmes.
  • Line management of a Product Assistant.
  • Project manage all range reviews to maximise category sales and profit, to include; delete management, sourcing new products and managing cross functional stakeholders.
  • Provide the tools and support for the Customer Service team to aid in the quick resolution of queries.

It would be great if you had!

  • Product development, Category Management, Business Studies related Degree level                   qualification.
  • At least 2 yrs product / category management experience.
  • Proven experience of managing a product category, including NPD and deletions and        commercial trading.
  • Demonstrable product sourcing skills.
  • Experience of execution of initiatives derived from customer insight - from observation, data  and research.
  • Supplier negotiations & management.
  • Outstanding numerate with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Line management skills.
  • Evidence of outstanding influencing and judgement.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills.
  • An interest and passion for brands and product positioning within.
  • A good understanding of customers within their current industry.
  • Hunger to make a difference and resilience to drive results.
