Commercial Product Manager 

Based in Crick (Junction 18 of the M1) 
Plumbing and Heating Division 

Travis Perkins are currently recruiting for a Product Manager - Own Brands Bathrooms which sits within our Plumbing and Heating Division.  It’s an exciting time to be joining the division as we embark on a 3 year transformation journey to create a stronger, efficient and more profitable business. Our strategy focuses on nurturing what already makes us great, while building plans to differentiate our customer offer and continuing to develop expertise, range and delivering a great service to make it easier for customers to do business with us. We are looking for an ambitious Product Manager to influence and implement the Product Strategy for your brands that will drive competitive advantage and
produce long term profitable growth and deliver against sales and margin targets.


Principle Accountabilities:
  • Acquire an in depth knowledge of the customer and the market relevant to the brand. Champion the customer within the business and ensure they are at the heart of all decision making
  • Develop and build range plans that include exit strategies and NPD that fulfil market driven trends, based on customer insight , trends analysis and fulfilling business unit specific requirements as appropriate
  • Develop a clear sourcing strategy for your product categories to ensure the supply of quality products that meet the customer need and builds high performing business partnerships with key suppliers to maximise opportunities
  • Within your product categories deliver agreed AOP performance in terms of financial measures (Sales, Margin, Profit and Marketing spend) and customer measures. Monitor trading performance and take corrective action where necessary
  • Deliver margin improvements through trading terms negotiation, group synergy projects and common and direct sourcing programmes
  • Line management of a Product Assistant 
  • Project manage all range reviews to maximise category sales and profit, this will include: delete management, sourcing new products and managing cross functional stakeholders
  • Provide the tools and support for the Customer Service team to aid in the quick resolution of queries

It would be great if you had…

● Product development, Category Management, Business Studies related Degree level                   qualification
● At least 2 yrs product / category management experience
● Proven experience of managing a product category, including NPD and deletions and                   commercial trading
● Demonstrable product sourcing skills
● Experience of execution of initiatives derived from customer insight - from observation, data         and research
● Working with sales/retail/merchant and category management teams on development of                integrated consumer & trade plans that have driven significant growth
● Supplier negotiations & management
● Outstanding numerate with strong attention to detail
● Strong negotiation skills
● Line management skills
● Evidence of outstanding influencing and judgement
● Strong project management and organisational skills
● Excellent written & oral communication skills
● IT literacy
● An interest and passion for brands and product positioning within
● A good understanding of customers within their current industry
● Hunger to make a difference and resilience to drive a results
